US President Donald Trump plans to travel to Ireland next week aboard the luxurious Boeing donated by Qatar, an aircraft adapted for use by the president during his current term. It will be the first time he uses the plane on an international trip since questions arose about the jet's defensive capabilities, according to a senior government official.
Trump had said, a few weeks ago, that the plane would be taken out of service for about a month to receive new security upgrades. It is unclear whether any upgrades have been made or if others are still planned.
The Washington Post previously reported on the US president's plans to use the Qatari aircraft. A senior White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, would not comment on whether the plane had undergone security modifications.
