The Judicial Police strongly indicted a 42-year-old man for the crime of wildfire in Solveira, in the municipality of Montalegre. The suspect allegedly set the fire using a lighter, causing a fire that consumed about 6,000 square meters of vegetation.
The man was subject to weekly presentations to authorities, a measure that aims to ensure his monitoring and control by justice during the course of the proceedings.
The case took place in the parish of Solveira, situated in the district of Vila Real, a region frequently affected by wildfires during the hotter months of the year.
