Hamas called on Thursday for Palestinians and the international community to oppose an Israeli intention to withdraw the population from Gaza. The call comes in reaction to a proposal presented by the Israeli National Security Minister.
On Thursday, the Israeli National Security Minister presented a proposal to expel the approximately two million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip over the next seven years. This proposal represents a plan for the forced transfer of the Palestinian population.
Hamas strongly condemned this initiative, calling on all Palestinians and the international community to mobilize against what it describes as an attempt at forced displacement. The Islamist organization considers this proposal a threat to the existence of the Palestinian people on their land.
The Gaza Strip is currently inhabited by approximately two million people, who would be affected by this plan if it were implemented over the seven-year period proposed by the Israeli minister.
