Shelly Thorburn faced a highly tense situation at her home in Montana, United States, when a female moose and her calf appeared at the entrance of the residence. The dramatic scene was recorded by security cameras on August 27. The incident occurred moments after the resident let her three dogs out into the backyard.
Upon noticing the presence of the wild animal alongside its calf, Shelly panicked. Her concern was especially focused on Annie, one of her elderly 14-year-old dogs, who had wandered away in the chaos without realizing the threat.
"She can't hear, she's deaf and visually impaired. So she didn't know anything about what was happening," Shelly explained in an interview with NBC. The mascot's vulnerability significantly increased her owner's panic during the incident.
To drive away the enraged female moose, Shelly used bear pepper spray, managing to protect her three dogs. The security camera footage recorded the resident screaming at the wild animals throughout the dangerous situation.
