The United Nations approved a resolution called "Correct the Map", which aims to change world maps to more accurately reflect the real dimension of the African continent.
The vote revealed broad international support for the initiative, with 164 countries voting in favor of the resolution.
The United States was the only country to vote against the measure, expressing opposition to the proposed change.
Six nations abstained from the vote: Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine.
