The United States imposed sanctions on Golden Global Bank, a Turkish bank, and its subsidiaries, accusing them of financing Iran. According to the official statement, the financial institution facilitated transactions worth tens of millions of dollars on behalf of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is described as Iran's ideological force. This is not the first time the United States has taken action against entities suspected of maintaining financial relations with Iranian organizations.
The sanctions aim to freeze assets and prohibit transactions with the designated entities, representing an escalation in tensions between the US and Iran under their economic pressure policies.
Golden Global Bank is now added to the list of sanctioned financial institutions, which significantly limits its ability to operate in the international financial system.
