Nepal. UN makes emergency appeal of 42.6 million euros

Observador4 September 2026 at 17:57

The United Nations launched an emergency appeal of 42.6 million euros to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Nepal. The campaign has a planned duration of four months and aims to provide assistance to populations affected by devastating floods.

The main objective is to help more than 84,000 people who were severely affected by these natural disasters. The aid provided through this appeal should cover basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare, and clean water.

The deadly floods occurred on August 26 and affected both Nepal and the Tibet region. The official toll indicates more than 1,300 confirmed dead and approximately 5,400 people still missing following these floods.

The scale of the catastrophe and the high number of missing persons make this one of the worst natural disasters to affect the region in decades, justifying the urgent need for international funding to support relief and reconstruction efforts.
