The National Identity Card (CIN) will be required by the National Social Security Institute (INSS) starting in 2027. The change is part of a process of modernization and unification of identification documents in Brazil.
The Digital Citizenship Institute is advising the population of Piauí to obtain the CIN in advance, avoiding leaving the regularization to the period close to the established deadlines. The recommendation is that citizens not leave it to the last moment.
The first copy of the CIN is free. With the unification of the document, each citizen will have a single identification number, the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF), which will be used as a reference in all public agencies.
The change will mainly affect those who still do not have the CIN and need to carry out services with INSS. The authorities recommend that the issuance be done as soon as possible to avoid future inconveniences.
