Government reinforces fuel support with three-cent discount

The Government will reinforce, this week, the discount on the excise duty on petroleum products (ISP) applied to gasoline and diesel, with an increase of approximately three cents per liter. This measure aims to continue supporting consumers facing fuel prices.

The reinforcement of the discount represents an additional effort by the Executive to mitigate the impact of energy costs on household budgets and the economy in general. The decision comes in a context of volatility in fuel prices on the international market.

This is not the first time the Government has resorted to ISP reduction as a fiscal policy instrument to ease the pressure on fuel prices. The mechanism has been used progressively to ensure greater stability in prices charged to consumers.
