GRITAH – Group of Intervention and Humanitarian Action is building a school in Cumura, Guinea-Bissau. The building structure is already complete and in the final phase of the roof. The project was born from paper collections, solidarity initiatives and the involvement of volunteers and partners over several years, with the goal of creating an educational space capable of generating new opportunities for children and young people in the local community.
The organization launched a crowdfunding campaign with a goal of 5,000 euros, intended to support the completion of the roof and the next works, namely plumbing and electrical installation. More than a request for financial support, the campaign aims to mobilize the community once again around a project built by many hands.
Since August 20, GRITAH volunteers have been in Guinea-Bissau to oversee this new stage of construction, work closely with the people involved on the ground, and document the country, the communities and the progress of the work.
GRITAH states that it believes in progress, equality of opportunity, knowledge, science, culture and dialogue as forces capable of transforming reality, considering this school another step on that path.
