Rio's INSS says waiting list for benefits in the state dropped 59% since January

The federal government announced on Thursday (the 3rd) the end of the long waiting list for benefit analysis by the Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) across the country. The expression "no-wait service" does not mean that all pending requests have been analyzed, but rather that INSS started concluding more requests than it receives each month, and that the total stock of cases under review became smaller than the number of new requests registered in a single month.

In the specific case of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the waiting list for INSS service dropped 59% since January of this year, going from 184,898 cases in the first month of 2026 to 75,471 in August. According to official data, currently, the average decision time for beneficiaries in Rio is 27 days.

Regarding the medical examination queue, INSS in Rio reports that this queue was 38 days in August 2023. In August of this year, the number was significantly reduced, demonstrating an improvement in service to beneficiaries.
