The Portuguese Government has begun formal negotiations with two major European airline groups for the partial privatization of TAP. The companies targeted are Air France-KLM and Lufthansa, two of the largest aviation conglomerates in the world.
The deal under discussion foresees the sale of up to 49.9% of the Portuguese airline's capital. This maximum value allows the Portuguese State to maintain majority control.
Within this sale percentage, a 5% share is reserved for TAP workers. This measure aims to involve the company's employees in the privatization process and guarantee their participation in the company's future.
Negotiations are underway and everything indicates that the agreement could be concluded in the near future, representing an important milestone in the history of the national airline.
