Amid the crisis at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the president of the Court, Edson Fachin, affirmed that the serious facts involving ministers are being investigated and guaranteed that the response will be firm and rigorous, without precipitation or omission. During a speech at an event at the Palácio do Planalto, he also defended the adoption of an ethics code for ministers, the end of the fake news inquiry, and the modernization of Justice.
Fachin again defended republican understanding among the Three Branches of government as a way to strengthen democracy. The minister affirmed that dialogue between institutions ceases to be merely a demand of the Republic and transforms into something concrete for people's lives. The in-person meeting took place a day after President Lula spoke out for the first time since the beginning of the disagreement.
Lula demanded that Fachin himself and the attorney general, Paulo Gonet, who also participated in the event, lead a process that guarantees the integrity of the investigations. The president of the STF emphasized that the response to the serious facts will be rigorous, but without precipitation or omission, reinforcing the need for dialogue among the Three Branches of government.
