Former Gaia mayor Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues acquitted of prevarication and embezzlement

The former mayor of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, was today acquitted of the crimes of prevarication and embezzlement he was accused of. The trial took place and the court decided to acquit the defendant.

The prosecution argued that Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues had used municipal funds to purchase tickets for attending football games. The Public Ministry had filed charges against the former mayor for these crimes.

The court found insufficient evidence to convict the former mayor, acquitting him of both charges. The decision marks the end of this legal proceedings involving the use of public funds for personal purposes related to sporting events.

Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues had been mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia and is now fully cleared of the charges against him.
