The Minister of the Presidency, Leitão Amaro, announced that the Portuguese government will begin final negotiations with two candidates for the purchase of 44.9% of TAP. This decision comes after an evaluation process of the proposals submitted by potential buyers.

The two proposals under analysis belong to Air France-KLM, which is owned by the French state, and Lufthansa, a German airline. Both competing companies are large European airline groups with a strong presence in the international market.
