The port of Funchal presents significant maintenance problems in an area of high tourist traffic. The summer period, which should have been used to carry out maintenance and improvement work, ended up being wasted time without the necessary interventions being carried out.
The pavement near the terminal, the bus and taxi docks is potholed, conveying a degraded image of the port infrastructure. In addition to the holes in the ground, the fenders show signs of degradation and the stairs are non-operational.
The article, by Rui Marote, alerts to the lack of maintenance in a location that should be in better condition, especially during the peak tourism season in Madeira.
