The Gaza Strip faces a new threat to the security of internally displaced people, with snakes and scorpions infiltrating tents and threatening the rest areas of the displaced population. This situation represents an additional problem for people who have already been forced to flee their homes due to the conflict.
Hassan Al-Samiri is one of the displaced people who had to flee to the east of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip. This man reports that the presence of snakes and scorpions near his tent has become frequent, creating an environment of constant danger.
According to Al-Samiri's statements, he says he sees a snake almost every week, in addition to many scorpions and spiders. The displaced person also states that every day he is forced to kill some of these venomous animals to ensure the safety of his family. This situation further worsens the difficult living conditions in the displaced camps, where basic infrastructure is scarce and access to healthcare is limited.
