The PL candidate for state governor, Douglas Ruas, defended that any government member involved in corruption be punished to the full extent of the law. The statement was made when questioned by CBN about conversations between former Governor Cláudio Castro and the owner of Refit, businessman Ricardo Magro.
Ruas stated that elected officials who commit illegal acts commit a true betrayal of the people. According to him, the politician receives the vote of trust from the population and uses political office to commit crimes, which should result in harsher penalties than those applied to ordinary citizens.
The PL candidate held a walk with supporters on Friday morning in Madureira, in the North Zone of the capital. At the event, former Secretary of the Military Police, Colonel Menezes, and Carlos Jordy, both candidates for elected positions, were present.
