The Non-Governmental Organization GRITAH – Grupo de Intervenção e Ação Humanitária, founded by young people from Lixa with an associative spirit, is building a school in Cumura, Guinea-Bissau. The group formally emerged in 2014 with the dream of building a school in that country, and what began as an ambition is now becoming reality.
Since August 20, GRITAH volunteers have been in Guinea-Bissau to oversee this new phase of construction, work closely with the people involved on the ground, and document the country, its communities and the progress of the construction.
With the structure complete and the roof nearing completion, the group is now launching its first crowdfunding campaign with a goal of 5,000 euros. The amount is intended to support the completion of the roof and the next phases of plumbing and electrical installation. The objective is to create an educational space capable of generating new opportunities for the children and young people of the community.
The organization states that more than a request for financial support, the campaign aims to mobilize the community around a project built by many hands, appealing to each donation, each share, and each person to whom the story reaches to contribute to bringing the school closer to completion.
