Marta Temido, former Health Minister and current MEP, is one of the new ambassadors of the University of Coimbra's Alumni network. This appointment is part of a university initiative to honor former students who have distinguished themselves in their professional careers.
The now MEP fondly recalls her time spent in Coimbra during her studies. According to her own words, the nights were marked by "some beers" and many hours of study, in a reference to the academic and social life that characterized her experience in the city.
Marta Temido currently holds a seat in the European Parliament, after having led the Health Ministry during a particularly challenging period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Her tenure in the Portuguese government brought her public recognition and political experience that she now brings to the European stage.
The selection as ambassador of the University of Coimbra's Alumni network reflects the successful trajectory of the former student, who went from the classrooms of Coimbra to positions of high political responsibility, first in Lisbon and now in Brussels.
