Night flights continue to violate legal limits in Lisbon

TVI Notícias4 September 2026 at 14:58

Night flights continue to violate legal limits at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, despite the Government's promise to ban aircraft movements between 01:00 and 05:00. The situation represents non-compliance with current regulations for the night period.

According to data from ZERO association, since the beginning of the year, over 4,600 night movements have been recorded at the Lisbon airport. Of this total, 1,165 occurred during the absolute prohibition window, that is, between 01:00 and 05:00, the period during which flights should be completely suspended.

ZERO association, which monitors the situation, has been documenting these violations on a continuous basis. The significant number of violations raises questions about the effectiveness of enforcement and compliance mechanisms established to protect capital residents from nighttime noise pollution.
