Meta is preparing new rules for younger users on its Instagram and Facebook platforms. The changes come in a context of increasing regulatory pressure and concerns about the impact of social media on the mental health of young people.
Among the main changes are usage time limits, which will restrict how much time minors can spend on the platforms daily. This measure aims to reduce the excessive time many young people spend on these social networks.
The new rules also include restrictions on filters that alter users' appearance. These filters, which allow artificial modification of faces and bodies, have been pointed out as harmful to teenagers' self-image.
Additionally, changes are planned for content that can be recommended to younger users. Meta will limit which types of posts appear in the explore and recommendations sections for this younger audience.
