An ambulance riddled with bullets is parked in front of the Russian Embassy in Lisbon, as part of a traveling exhibition touring Europe. The vehicle, coming from Ukraine, arrived in Portugal with the objective of showing the consequences of the armed conflict and raising awareness among the population about the reality experienced in Ukrainian territory.
The exhibition has the simultaneous purpose of raising funds to send new medical vehicles to Ukraine. The organizers thus intend to support the humanitarian effort in the country devastated by war, providing essential equipment for rescue operations and medical assistance.
The presence of the shot-up ambulance next to the Russian diplomatic representation in Lisbon constitutes a symbolic gesture aimed at drawing attention to the effects of war on the civilian population and health professionals who continue to operate in combat zones. The initiative allows Portuguese people to physically witness one of the vehicles that has been used on the ground during the conflict.
