Twenty-six players from Portimonense SC have been accused of sports betting, in a disciplinary process involving several members of the team that competes in the Algarve Football Association. The Algarve club is thus facing an internal investigation related to responsible gambling practices.
Among the names involved in the process, Nuno Pereira stands out as the most media-exposed figure. The player was a finalist in the Big Brother Summer program, which gave him great media exposure among the Portuguese public.
The disciplinary process is being conducted internally by the club and aims to clarify the circumstances under which the sports betting attributed to the players allegedly occurred. The accusations arise in a context of growing concern about the integrity of sports competitions and compliance with regulations regarding betting by professional athletes.
