The director of the Convento de Cristo expects that the cloisters restored under the Recovery and Resilience Plan will be available for visits from September. The Terreiro de Armas is expected to open to the public in October.
The president of Cultural Heritage stated that the intervention project was reformulated to ensure the safeguarding of the monument. This reformulation came following concerns regarding the impact of the works on the heritage.
The Convento de Cristo, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is thus in the final phase of interventions funded by the PRR, with the aim of reopening to the public the areas that were closed for conservation and restoration works.
