The Chega party presented a motion of censure against the Government that will be debated in Parliament. This motion does not count, however, with the support of PS or IL, the two parties that sustain the parliamentary base of the minority executive of Luís Montenegro.
The prime minister, Luís Montenegro, has already guaranteed the maintenance of political confidence in Luís Neves, the minister of Internal Administration targeted by the motion. This guarantee means that the voting result in Parliament should not have an impact on the minister's mandate.
It is thus expected that the motion of censure will not pass, given that PS and IL, parties that support the executive, should vote against or abstain. The Chega motion arises in a context of political tension, but its viability is compromised by the lack of support from the Government's partners.
