PAN/Açores considers that the best way to celebrate the 50 years of Azorean autonomy is to continue the work initiated by its founders. Pedro Neves, the party's sole parliamentarian in the Legislative Assembly of the Azores, defended this position on the day that the five decades of autonomy are commemorated.
Pedro Neves noted that autonomy was born from a simple but powerful idea, according to which Azoreans should have a voice over their destiny. The party believes that keeping this fundamental premise alive is the most appropriate way to honor those who fought for the conquest of regional autonomy.
PAN/Açores thus reinforces its commitment to the principles that were at the base of the creation of Azores autonomy, exactly 50 years ago. The party believes that the path traced by the founders should be followed and adapted to contemporary challenges.
