The CDS-PP deputy in the Azores parliament, Pedro Pinto, considered that the region's autonomy was worth it, 50 years after its implementation. Pedro Pinto acknowledged that not everything was done well over these five decades, but argued that the path taken justifies the investment in autonomy.
According to the deputy, although there are still problems to solve in the region, there is work done that demonstrates the progress achieved. Pedro Pinto highlighted that there are reasons for hope in the future of the Azores, considering that autonomy brought concrete benefits for the population.
The CDS-PP position comes in the context of the celebrations of the 50 years of Azores autonomy, a historic milestone for the region that grants it self-governance powers within the Portuguese constitutional framework.
