BE says autonomy built bridges between the Azorean islands

The sole deputy of the Left Bloc in the Azorean parliament, António Lima, today made statements about regional autonomy. He stated that autonomy "built the bridges" between the nine islands of the archipelago. Lima referred to the overcoming of physical distances and the "stormy channels that nature imposed" between the Azorean islands. The politician recalled that although the islands were discovered about 600 years ago, the people of the Azores only discovered themselves through the autonomy process.
