The Russian House in Lisbon has ceased operations, while its counterpart in Berlin is about to close, at a time of growing European scrutiny of these cultural and information structures associated with Russia.
The Russian Embassy in Portugal indicated that the closure of the Russian House in Lisbon occurred after a "deterioration of bilateral relations" between the two countries.
The closure of these centers comes in a broader context of growing scrutiny by European authorities regarding structures accused of promoting influence and Kremlin propaganda on the European continent.
