French director Tony Gatlif, voice of the Roma community, dies

French filmmaker Tony Gatlif died on Thursday, in Arles, France, at the age of 77. The news was revealed by the filmmaker's family.

Tony Gatlif was known for his cinema, which was dedicated to exploring and celebrating Romani culture. Throughout his career, he became a recognized voice for this community.

Young musicians from Famalicão return home for the 8th edition of the Jovem Orquestra

The Jovem Orquestra de Famalicão (JOF) begins its 8th edition, bringing together dozens of young musicians who return to the city before resuming positions in European schools and orchestras. Among the participants are Sofia Azevedo, a cellist completing her master's degree in Belgium, and Miguel Rocha, a concertmaster studying in Salzburg, both accompanying the project since its founding and expressing the desire to return to Portugal in the future. Conductor José Eduardo Gomes leads the artistic residency, which this year presents a program focused on Russian symphonic repertoire, including Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, with soloist Luís Magalhães from Famalicão, and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade." The concerts take place at Casa da Música in Porto and Casa das Artes in Famalicão.
