Rewilding Portugal launched a challenge to artists to create a sculpture inspired by the Côa Great Valley, which will be installed in the village of Vilar, in the municipality of Sabugal. The initiative aims to mark the return of wildlife to this inland region of Portugal.
The competition is aimed at visual artists, sculptors, and designers, who must submit proposals that reflect the connection between wildlife and the landscape of the Côa Great Valley. The winning work will be produced and installed as a symbolic element of the natural regeneration of the area.
The Côa Great Valley is a region known for its archaeological heritage, including the rock engravings classified as UNESCO World Heritage. The installation of the sculpture also aims to boost tourism in the village of Vilar and promote the valorization of the territory.
