BE/Açores questions regional executive and municipality about kindergarten in Ponta Delgada

Açoriano Oriental4 September 2026 at 13:03

The BE/Açores requested urgent clarification from the Regional Government of the Azores and the Municipal Council of Ponta Delgada about the provisional closure of the New Theatre Kindergarten, located in the parish of Capelas. The party members want to know the reasons for this decision and what conditions were offered to the transferred children.

According to the party, the children were transferred to another school, but no clarification was provided about the conditions of this transfer. The BE/Açores expressed concern about the impact of this decision on the families of the parish of Capelas.

The request for clarification was addressed simultaneously to the regional executive and the municipality of Ponta Delgada, suggesting that responsibility for the situation may be shared between both entities. The party now awaits a response about the future of this educational establishment.

The success of the far-right leader shakes Australia

Pauline Hanson, leader of the Australian far right and founder of the One Nation party, threatens to break the bipartisanship that has prevailed in Australian democracy. At 73 years old and an admirer of Donald Trump, Hanson is preparing for a major electoral leap in the federal elections scheduled for 2028, with polls giving her 30% voting intention, above the Labor Party (in government) and the Coalition (liberals and conservatives), the main traditional forces. It is the first time that a third party surpasses traditional Australian parties in opinion polls.
