The European Union sent a humanitarian plane with 82 tons of essential goods to Nepal, as part of a humanitarian assistance effort to the country. The flight, organized in partnership with UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), landed this morning in the Nepali capital.
In addition to the transported goods, the European Commission announced the provision of an additional 500,000 euros in humanitarian aid to support emergency teams on the ground. This funding is intended to reinforce assistance operations for the affected population.
The plane brought food, health, education, sanitation, and protection materials. The European Commission stated, in a communique, that this rapid response demonstrates the EU's commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to countries in crisis.
