After voting by mail for this year's midterm elections, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, again made an appeal to the Supreme Court to restrict voting by mail in the electoral process. The new request was made officially on Thursday (3), and Trump advocates for a rule that imposes greater rigor on ballots sent this way.
This is not the first time the president has made this defense. In July, he had already made a similar request to the American Supreme Court. The appeal comes after Federal Judge Indira Talwani, from Boston, temporarily suspended the rule before the November elections, which will decide the new congress members.
The request made by the Department of Justice prevents the post office from applying the rule adopted in a decree by Trump that restricted this type of voting. The rule would make it harder to access voting by mail, requiring more specific data from voters on the ballots and potentially causing rejections.
