Russia's spring and summer campaign to conquer the Donbass region failed, according to a cartographic and operational analysis of the conflict in 2026. Specialist Vitaliy Venislavskyy was responsible for this operational analysis of the conflict.
According to the report, Russian forces faced enormous difficulties on the terrain during this campaign. Russian troops suffered significant material and human losses over the period.
Despite the efforts undertaken, the gains made by Russian forces were residual. In other words, territorial advances were minimal compared to the losses accumulated during the military operations.
