The Municipal Council of Águeda and ARCOR – Recreational and Cultural Association of Óis da Ribeira signed a program contract that formalizes a financial support of 210 thousand euros for the requalification and expansion of the association's nautical hangar, in Óis da Ribeira. The intervention should be completed by the end of next year.
The municipal support aims to address the sustained growth of ARCOR's activity, providing the space with better conditions for sports practice, training, and development of nautical sports. Edson Santos, Vice-President of the Municipal Council of Águeda, highlighted that the investment will create better conditions for athletes and enhance the sports infrastructure of the municipality.
The intervention comes following an application submitted by ARCOR in May, in which the association identified the need to strengthen the capacity of its facilities given the increase in the number of practitioners, athletes, members, and users. Among the objectives of the work is the improvement of boat storage and conservation conditions, as well as the creation of public sanitary facilities, addressing a need identified in that area of Pateira.
Within the scope of the program contract, ARCOR commits to ensuring the new facilities are open to the public and to strengthening the development of training for children and youth in nautical sports, promoting sports initiation, healthy lifestyles, and contact with nature.
