Tennis player Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended since August 4 due to a positive anti-doping test. The substance detected was cocaine, which constitutes a serious violation of the rules of sporting competition.
Kyrgios will have to enter a rehabilitation program as part of the resolution of the case. Participation in this type of program allows the duration of the suspension imposed on the athlete to be reduced.
The provisional suspension means that the tennis player was barred from competing while the case was being reviewed, awaiting a final decision on the penalty to be applied.
