Portugal intends to triple its presence in the 280 billion euro European defense megapackage. The country wants to participate in more European defense projects through the European Defense Fund.
In July, the European Commission proposed five new large-scale common projects in defense. These projects aim to strengthen European defense capability through collaborations between various member states.
Portugal intends to increase its participation in these joint programs, taking advantage of the available European funding. The objective is to strengthen national military capabilities through European cooperation.
The European Defense Fund finances collaborative projects between defense companies and institutions from different countries in the European Union, allowing cost-sharing and the development of joint capabilities.
