Mozambique recorded 11.9% growth in tax collection during the first half of the year, reaching 2,260 million euros, according to the budget execution report from the Ministry of Finance. This figure represents 47.5% of the annual forecast and compares with the 2,021 million euros collected in the same period of 2025.

Tax revenues totaled 167,491.8 million meticais, mainly driven by a 28.6% increase in taxes on goods and services, which reached 967 million euros, and by 40.3% growth in net VAT, which amounted to 674 million euros after deduction of refunds. Domestic VAT operations grew nominally by 78.8% compared to the same period last year.

Taxes on foreign trade increased by 16.1%, to 151 million euros, due to the rise in merchandise imports. Conversely, taxes on income fell by 5.2%, with Corporate Income Tax declining by 9.2% to 573 million euros, while Individual Income Tax grew by only 0.5% to 455 million euros.

Overall, total state revenue reached 2,474 million euros, representing 45% of the annual forecast and year-on-year growth of 6.7%. Current revenues contributed 2,425 million euros, equivalent to 46.2% of the annual target, while capital revenues totaled only 49 million euros.
