FC Porto, the reigning Portuguese champions, will face Académico de Viseu in the quarter-finals of the League Cup. The match is scheduled for 20:30 on October 28, at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto. This will be the second time the two teams meet this season, after Porto's 3-0 victory in the league.
Académico de Viseu finished second in the last II Liga, while FC Porto are the current national champions. The League Cup does not feature the holders, Vitória de Guimarães, who finished ninth in the I Liga and were excluded from the competition.
The quarter-final programme also includes Sporting, the runners-up, who host Marítimo, champions of the II Liga, on October 27. The following day, Benfica, third place in the last I Liga, face Gil Vicente, sixth, while Sporting de Braga, fourth, host Famalicão, fifth.
Benfica are the record holders for League Cup titles, with eight trophies, double that of Sporting. They are followed by Sporting de Braga with three titles, and Vitória de Setúbal, Moreirense, FC Porto and Vitória de Guimarães, each with one victory in the competition.
