DGS alerts for dust and advises vulnerable population to stay home

The Directorate-General for Health issued an alert due to poor air quality caused by the concentration of dust from North Africa that is suspended in the atmosphere. The DGS recommended the most vulnerable population to stay home whenever possible, in order to minimize exposure to polluting particles. This guidance is especially directed at groups considered at higher risk, although the alert is aimed at the general population. The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere forecasts that adverse atmospheric conditions will remain at least until Saturday, indicating that the poor air quality situation should persist during this period.
