Sintra reinforces support for animal protection associations in the municipality

The Sintra City Council will allocate 69 thousand euros to animal protection associations in the municipality, with the aim of reinforcing shelter conditions and the care provided to animals. The support will allow for improving living conditions in shelters and colonies, ensuring urgent veterinary care, and reinforcing responses to control animal overpopulation.

According to Marco Almeida, president of the Sintra City Council, the investment allows for "reinforcing collaboration with entities that play an essential role in the sheltering, treatment, and adoption of stray animals". The support will also contribute to the protection of public health in the municipality.

The municipality considers that the partnership with animal protection associations is fundamental to address the needs of abandoned or stray animals and to promote animal welfare in the municipality.
