Calheta increases support for displaced students

The City Council of Calheta approved the increase in the value of scholarship grants for displaced students, rising from 60 to 80 euros monthly. This increase is intended for students from the municipality who attend higher education outside the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The measure was approved at the municipal executive meeting and fulfills a commitment made by the current executive. The increase represents an addition of approximately 40 thousand euros per year in the municipality's investment for university students.

Calheta has approximately 300 students who benefit from this type of support, being one of the municipalities in Madeira with the highest number of young people attending higher education outside the region.
