Argentine President Javier Milei made a televised address in which he reaffirmed Argentina's claim over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). Milei declared that the territory is Argentine "historically and legally," stating that "there is no room for discussion" and that the islands "are part of Argentine territory."
In his speech, Milei paid homage to the hundreds of soldiers killed during the 1982 conflict, which lasted 74 days. He stated that the islands are "relevant to the country" and that "there is no other path" but the recovery of the territory.
The Argentine president declared that the islands "are our future" and defended that recovery is the best way to honor those who sacrificed their lives. According to Milei, it is "our obligation, as a nation, to honor their memory."
Milei reiterated that the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) are of national importance to Argentina and defended that the recovery of the territory is a cause that must be maintained by the country.
