Our Lady of Help Festivities to Take Place with Chapel Under Construction

Defesa de Espinho4 September 2026 at 10:00

The festivities in honor of Our Lady of Help will take place this year with the Chapel of Santa Maria Maior under construction. The first phase of the intervention in the chapel will not be completed before the religious celebrations scheduled for September 19 and 20, requiring the ceremonies to take place outside the temple.

The rehabilitation works were started in mid-July and are expected to continue until next year. This situation necessitated adaptations in the way the religious festivities are traditionally held in the city of Espinho.

The parish priest of Espinho, Father Artur Pinto, guarantees that the celebrations will be held as in previous years, despite the ongoing works. According to the priest, "the first phase of the works is not completed, but we will celebrate in that place the festivities of our patron saint."
