Legal limits on night air traffic at Lisbon airport were exceeded in 33 of the 35 weeks since the start of 2026, having been met only in two weeks of that period. The data reveal systematic non-compliance with the regulations in force during most of the year.
August was identified as the most critical period, recording the largest excesses in relation to the established limits. This situation raises questions about the capacity for enforcement and compliance with noise protection standards at the country's main airport.
The Zero association will launch this Friday a public monitoring platform for night flights in Lisbon. This tool aims to provide transparent and accessible information on compliance with legal limits by the airline companies operating at the airport.
The initiative comes in response to the need for greater control over the impact of night air operations on the quality of life of residents living near the airport, as well as the repeated non-compliance with the limits established by applicable legislation.
