Teachers in Portugal will now have to register lesson summaries within a maximum period of five days after the end of each month, under penalty of having their salaries affected. This requirement comes as part of a restructuring in the way school data is managed and reported.
The Agency for the Management of the Education System (AGSE) sent instructions to schools this week detailing the new rules, which will only be applied in the 2026/2027 school year. The registered data will be connected to central education management systems, directly impacting the processing of teachers' salaries.
This change will allow identification of situations where classes were not taught and ensure greater transparency in the management of teaching resources. The newspaper Correio da Manhã reported that school management applications will be updated to accommodate these new registration requirements.
