The Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Sergii Marchenko, warned in an exclusive interview with Euronews of an austere budget ahead of a "very difficult winter" for the country. This will be the first time since 2022 that Ukraine will face budget restrictions of this magnitude.
Marchenko stated that the country had not faced such budget restrictions since 2022, the year when the large-scale war against Russia began. This situation places additional pressure on Ukrainian public finances at an already delicate time.
The official also called for the reactivation of frozen Russian assets, suggesting a new custody plan as a solution to help mitigate the approaching financial crisis. This measure aims to provide additional resources to support the war effort and the country's economic stability.
