The Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, remains the world's tallest building since 2010, standing at 828 meters in height, a title it has held for over 16 years. However, a new generation of ambitious projects intends to surpass this world record.
The most ambitious project is the Jeddah Tower, located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The tower was planned to reach at least 1,000 meters in height, which would make it the first building in the world to reach the one-kilometer milestone. When completed, it will surpass the current record holder, the Burj Khalifa.
Construction of the Jeddah Tower began in 2013, faced a long stoppage, and was later resumed. According to the Council on Vertical Urbanism, formerly the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the project has been reclassified as underway.
